A new Unreal Tournament path tracing mod demo adds full patch tracing and ray tracing effects to 2004’s updated Unreal Tournament.
Created by modder ‘Rune_Storm’, this version is an early release of his/her upcoming RTX Remix mod for Unreal Tournament. As said, this is an early beta release, and as such, it suffers from some issues, including several maps not working correctly. Additionally, this is a work-in-progress mod and visual quality will likely improve over time. Then again, looking at the screenshots that were shared by NVIDIA’s Jacob Freeman on X (thanks DSOGaming), there are some clear visual enhancements compared to the original game. We’ve included Freeman’s post, containing the screenshots, below:
UT2004 RTX Remix shots (WIP). Not all maps are working yet in RT, but looks promising, another one of my favorites, awesome to see it in RTX 👍 https://t.co/W7QwtfL32b pic.twitter.com/o4iwymKJiJ

Released in 2004 as an updated version of 2003’s Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004 packs updated visuals and gameplay mechanics alongside the new Onslaught game mode as well as vehicle combat. We’ve included a short part from the 2003 press release below:
“As the ultimate techno-gladiator of the future, players will take their fates into their hands, battling against up to 32 other players online in action-packed, frag-filled arenas. New maps are being included for all established game modes, including Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Bombing Run and Double Domination. In addition, Unreal Tournament 2004 contains all of the new maps, mutators and game types — such as Mutant, Last Man Standing and Invasion — from the free downloadable bonus packs.”
