Generative AI company Uthana has raised $4.3 million in a funding round to develop animations that adapt dynamically to gameplay.
The round was led by IA Ventures, with support from A16Z Speedrun, Acequia Capital, Cursor Capital, HustleFund, MetaVision, and JonesTrauber.
Alongside the raise, Uthana has also launched an open beta of its platform for 3D character animation.
Uthana’s goal is to develop AI-generated animations that adapt dynamically to gameplay, creating NPC movements and unscripted interactions that evolve with player engagement.
Beyond games, Uthana sees potential for real-time generative motion in interactive experiences, virtual production, and simulated environments.
Creating lifelike animations
The company said its Motion Library offers over 10,000 animations searchable by natural language. Moreover, Uthana is currently collaborating with over 10 studios, co-developing new features like Style Transfer and APIs for integration of its AI-powered solutions into games and applications.
Designed for game developers and animators, Uthana supports integrates with tools like Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, and Blender.
“Our mission is to ‘beat a visual Turing test’ for human motion, creating truly lifelike animations,” said Uthana co-founder and CEO Viren Tellis.
“Generative AI has the potential to transform how animators and game developers work and unlock creativity across the industry.”
