UPDATE: Verizon has apparently fixed the issue that caused the brief outage this morning. Subscribers who weren’t able to make or receive a phone call about an hour ago are now able to do so and the number of complaints submitted by Verizon customers on the Down Detector site has plummeted. If Verizon does reveal the reason for the outage, we will pass it along to you by updating this story. But for now, the good news is that Verizon subscribers can make and receive voice calls.
Verizon is experiencing an outage this morning
Based on the map at DownDetector, it appears that Verizon is down in major cities like Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and Seattle. Text messages appear to be going through and this was seconded by a Verizon subscriber who just posted on the site, “My 2 Verizon cell phones have no voice service as of 12:00 PM today…but text messages seem to be working.”
The number of complaints from Verizon customers submitted on DownDetector surged around noon EDT
The Verizon Support Twitter page has no mention of the outage and the only tweet mentions that since it is the last day of March, Verizon customers are running out of time to claim their Verizon Up rewards for the month.
