If you’re still hunting for a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, Walmart is signaling it’s going to sell both consoles at select in-store locations next Saturday, on Dec. 11th.
The in-store sales are occurring for a company-sponsored “Gamer Drop” event, according to a new page on Walmart.com.
The retailer doesn’t explicitly say the PS5 or the Xbox Series X will be sold during the event. Nevertheless, the page notes: “Join us in store Saturday, December 11th to stock up on video gaming must haves, and score some exclusive gear.” Alongside the text is a photo of a PS5, Xbox Series X and a Nintendo Switch OLED console.
In addition, Walmart has created a catalog for the event, and it too features the PS5 and Xbox Series X in the promotions.
However, the event is only occurring at select Walmart stores. To find out which, go to the retailer’s Gamer Drop site and plug in a zip code. Walmart also warns store locations are subject to change.
We’ve reached out to Walmart for more details about the upcoming event, and we’ll update the story if we hear back. In the meantime, the company’s website is promising the Gamer Drop will feature “great prices” for numerous titles across the Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The event catalog also features some PC gaming hardware, including laptops and desktops.
If you do participate, brace for long lines. Past in-store sales for the PS5 and Xbox Series X at other retailers have caused some desperate consumers to camp out the day before.
