Games commerce company Xsolla has penned a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Digital Asset Nexus.
The MoU is aimed at positioning Busan as a global hub for game development and technological innovation. Xsolla is also planning to establish its Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in the South Korean city.
Xsolla said the HQ will serve as a hub with a talent development centre for game developers. It will also explore advancements in Web3 to drive digital growth and provide new employment opportunities.
Both Xsolla and BDAN will provide mentorship, resources, and funding-related opportunities for local game developers, entrepreneurs and creators.
BDAN is a decentralised platform focused on Real-World Assets (RWA). They are backed by investors like Barunson and Hana Bank.
Creating new opportunities
“This partnership is a testament to Busan’s incredible potential as a centre for gaming and technology,” said Xsolla’s SVP of global strategic partnerships Rytis Joseph Jan.
“By collaborating with BDAN and Busan City, we aim to create opportunities for local talent and businesses while contributing to the economic and technological growth of the region.”
BDAN CEO Kim Sang-min added: “The vision we discussed with Xsolla earlier this year is becoming a reality. Together, we will help Busan become a digital finance hub and a global blockchain city, fostering new opportunities in gaming and beyond.”
Busan already acts as a hub for South Korea’s games industry, hosting the G-Star exhibition and conference each year. The event welcomes thousands of consumers and industry professionals from across the region and internationally each year.
