Mobile games developer Dream Games has enlisted basketball star LeBron James and other famous celebrities to promote its latest title Royal Kingdom.
The ad humorously plays on LeBron’s pre-game reading habit, showing him playing Royal Kingdom instead.
Dream Games’ Royal Kingdom celebrity marketing campaign features not just LeBron James, but also Jimmy Fallon, Shakira, and Big Bang Theory stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki.
The Jimmy Fallon ad takes aim at concerns that Royal Kingdom gameplay shares similarities with its predecessor Royal Match, addressing the topic directly.
According to AppMagic estimates, Royal Kingdom has generated an estimated $91.2 million to date worldwide across the App Store and Google Play.
The title had its best month yet in March, accumulating $19.3m as Dream Games ramps up marketing for the game.
Strong marketing moves
Dream Games isn’t the only company using celebrities for its marketing campaigns to drive installs. Earlier this month, Supercell launched its ClashaMania season in Clash of Clans, introducing WWE-themed content and expanding its celebrity and IP partnerships.
The update transforms the village into an arena and adds new legendary skins like King Cody and Brutality Queen.
Over the past year, Supercell has worked with celebrities including Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Rhea Ripley, Chris Hemsworth and Gordon Ramsay in promotional trailers for its games.
